Some lines of 8 VALKYRIES (01)

By popular demand, here is some lines of the novel I'm writing, 8 VALKYRIES. Let some comments and enjoy reading. (Yeah, I'm sure I have some mistakes, sorry.)

As these packs leaded by the mountain-sized monster advanced forward to Asgard's last line of defense, Odin and the Valkyries couldn't help staring at the mass number of adversaries with little hope in their eyes of grasping victory. Nevertheless, even as an imminent death was coming closely to them, the Valkyries stood firmly at the All-Father's sides and unsheated all of their swords, valiantly ready for what would seem to be their last battle.

"Lord Odin," said the golden long-haired Valkyrie. "I speak in the name of my fellow maiden sisters that no honor and pleasure was greater than to serve and fight at the sides of you and Asgard."

Odin looked at all of the determined eyes of his Valkyries. He then gazed especially at the one who just spoke words to him and sighed peacefully as an air of nostalgic reminiscence had caught his mind's attention. A small smile drew in his lips while his eyes keep staring at her courageous person.

"I remember these eyes of fire within their emerald glow that you always had...", he said while walking in front of the battle-maidens. "While you and him were living happily in peaceful serenity, I promised to the both of you that if something chaotic should happen, such as this day, my life would be your forever-holding shield..."

"Lord Odin?" She said, clueless of his words.

"I continued to keep this oath after the fall of your world," Odin continued. "and furthermore after your birth in Asgard. Today, in this dark hour we face, I will keep honoring my promise to you."

"But of what oath or promise do you speak of?" She asked with a puzzled tone in her voice. The other Valkyries shared the same confusion wandering the meaning of their Lord's words. "I do not recall such thing at all! I am certain that you speak of someone else but myself!"

"I assure you that the person that I speak of is none other than yourself, Valkyrie. And as much as I admire all of your bravery to spend your last moments at my side, my Valkyries," Odin traced rune characters of magic floating in mid-air that glowed a golden light. "I cannot and will not let this battle be your last..."

The runes of magic written by Odin flew by high speed towards the Valkyries circling around them. A bright light shined with blindness under their feet and emerged as luminous petals enclosing the battle-maidens in clear spheres of light. One after the other, as each of them tried to break the spheres, they fell down slowly being plunged into a deep and unknown sleep.

"No!", shouted the demon witnessing Odin casting his spell on his valkyrian rival. "I will not let you have your way, old wolf!"

His face was that of a man who was about to lose something that nothing in the universe could have the ability to imitate, no matter the efforts. In the fastest of haste, he dashed towards the opened window and flew high in the misty and cold sky of Niflheim while performing a play of hand gestures of a magical spell opening a dark tunnel from thin air. The demon entered and disappeared in it to reappear on Midgard, the world of mortals.

Flying in the dusky sky of the night, he felt a certain disturbance in the atmosphere and didn't loose a single second to rush himself forward to it. His mind refused to think clearly and his actions was now the only master of his wild will; it pushed, ordered and drove him to that destination he seeked dearly.

The monstrous beast advanced closely on the all-father god. Odin speeched his last words to his Valkyrie, the last one among her fellow sisters to resist her master's spell.

"Lord Odin..." she said as she grew weaken by the charm. "We... cannot leave you or..."

The god approached the sphere of light containing the Valkyrie still awaken and laid hand on it. He casted a smile of nostalgia, thinking of more serene and warmer moments in a far distant past that happened in his youth.

"I truly hope to see you again, old friend." He said.

Leaving these incomprehensible words to her, she at last succumbed to this rite's power and fell into a deep sleep as her sisters.

The eight spheres of light that contained the Valkyries slowly elevated themselves in the sky, circling in an enchanted matter. As they've reached a height fairly away enough from the divine soil of Asgard while Odin stared at them with eyes mixing the emotions of sadness and confidence, the eight Valkyries flashed forward in the far distant horizon towards their next world of adoption.
